Lineage 2/Manor
The manor system allows newer clan members (especially those in the Academy, but everyone can profit a little), while giving the clan access to cheap materials. In addition, it's an easy system to use - but it has its complications, and still needs explaining. So I'll try to explain it a little here. :)

Using the manor
Using the manor involves seven simple steps:
- Deciding which seeds to use
- Buying the seeds at a manor manager
- Using the seeds on monsters
- Killing the monsters
- Using the harvester on the dead monsters' bodies
- Selling the crops back to the manor manager
- (Optionally) selling the resulting materials to other players
Easy enough. Now, every step has its complications. Let's go through them step by step.
Manoring details
Deciding which seeds to use
Every seed has only two possible rewards. Both are basic and "compound" materials (animal bone, varnish, leather, high grade suede and so on ...). From monetary point of view. the "best" seeds ...
- ... are in your level range
- ... are getting you materials which are most overpriced at the player market (examples: animal bone, coarse bone powder, enria, oriharukon ore, coal, varnish, steel, iron ore, cokes)
- ... will get you the most materials for the investment. This means mostly that you want to compare your seed buy price to the amount of money you'll get (in materials) when you bring the crops back in.
If the third rule sounds hard to understand (or follow), just use the first two and get ...
- Red Codas (for varnish) at levels 8-18
- Blue Codas (for animal skin and crafted leather) at levels 14-24
- Golden Codas (for mithril ore) at levels 17-27
- Lute Coda (for iron ore) at levels 20-30
- Desert Coda (for coal) at levels 23-33
- Red Cobol (for charcoal and enria) at levels 26-36
- Chilly Cobol (for animal bone) at levels 29-39
- Golden Cobol (for varnish and mold glue) at levels 38-48
- Great Cobol (for high grade suede) at levels 41-51
And so on.
A table with rewards and rough value per crop at current market prices follows shortly.
Buying the seeds at a manor manager
Go to the manor manager of the region you intend to hunt in and buy the seeds.
Preferrably, you should do it shortly after the manor reset time, especially for the seeds which are in high demand, like Chilly Cobol. The bold part above is important: you can only "seed" mobs with the seeds from the same region. The same doesn't apply to the crops - you can sell them everywhere.
Purchase a harvester, if you don't have one already.
Using the seeds on monsters
Target the monster, double-click or right-click on the seed. Your character will run up to the monster and "seed" it.
Important facts to remember:
- Sometimes, a seeding will fail. That's most common with mobs either not in the level range of the crop, or not in your level range (blue or red mobs are bad seeding targets).
- Seeding can be interrupted, like a casting would.
- Seeding doesn't generate any aggro. When hunting mobs without random aggro switching or AoE effects, your healer or buffer can seed easily (see also "Seeding party setup", below).
- After seeding, your character will automatically start attacking. To prevent this, wait until (s)he starts seeding (the animation appears), then click away from the monster on the ground.
It works even better if you drag the seeds you're using in one of the quick bar slots and use them from there.
Important: Don't seed monsters which drop important materials; especially keymaterials for sought-after crafts. They'll still drop quest items, event items, instant-effect items and adena (and you can still "spoil" them), but nothing else.
Killing the monsters
You know how to do it, right? Right?!? :D
The requirement to get up close and personal means that seeding works best with melee type fighters. Nukers, archers and summoners will have a lot of running to do. Healers/buffers should have a group for hunting, anyway.
Using the harvester on the dead monsters' bodies
The manor managers sell the harvesters for 500a + local tax. You only ever need one, and it's dirt cheap anyway. Use it by targetting the dead body (SHIFT+left mouse click if you lost the target) and double-clicking or right-clicking on the harvester. You can also drag it into a quick bar slot and use it from there.
Take care when seeding and spoiling at the same time: You have to use the harvester first, then use the "Sweeper" skill. The reason for this is that "Sweeper" removes the corpse instantly.
Selling the crops back to the manor manager
You can sell the crops back at any manor manager, but if you sell to a different region that the one you're in, you'll have to pay a transaction fee (in adena). I think it's 10% of the crop value, but I'm not sure; somebody will have to test it. :) Sometimes it's worth it, but most of the time you're better of running (teleporting, for the rich and lazy ones) to the "right" manor manager.
You can calculate the amount of materials you'll get with a simple formula:
Materials gained = Amount of Crops * Buyback price / Base price of the material.
(Base material prices table follows shortly)
Don't turn in too few crops. Usually, at least 100 at a time is fine.
Some crops and the materials they produce are high in demand, for example Chilly Cobols. You'll have to beat selling bots to turn them in. This means turning in at the moment the manor resets (shortly after 20:00 CET during wintertime and CEST during summertime). The exact moment is about 5 minutes and 50 seconds after the Olympiad announcment. You have a window of opportunity of 1 to 3 seconds. Good luck.
(A little trick to help with it follows shortly, with screen shots :))
(Optionally) selling the resulting materials to other players
That's your call. I would like it if we could sell the manor results to clan members only for less than its market value, to help them in their crafting. I'm doing it this way, spreadig my profits over the whole clan. You don't have to, though. Just make sure you know the market value of the materials you got, set up a sell shop in Giran over the night, and watch the adena rolling in! :D
